NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING

CONCERNING A PROPOSED CONSENT AND AMENDMENT TO ZONINGBY-LAW 2008-66P, AS AMENDED, TOWN OF HUNTSVILLE

TAKE NOTICE THE COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT AND COUNCIL WILL HOLD A

PUBLIC MEETING

July 21st, 2009, at 9:00 A.M.

at the Council Chambers, Town Hall, 37 Main Street East, Huntsville

The latest application and public meeting went before the Committee of Adjustment yesterday.

Short version: No decision was reached. The matter has been adjourned to a later date to allow committee members time to absorb all the material and answer some questions.

Sybil Pieper is trying again. She has filed a new application to subdivide her property. This latest attempt is similar to the last in that she wants to create 3 new lots, but this time she wants to make the lots smaller! We have examined the application (attached as a PDF file to the bottom of this notice) and can only surmise that, if successful, this application leaves enough retained lands to create even more lots in the future. There will be a public meeting to consider her application on February 17th at 9:00 am in Council Chambers.

In 2002, Sybil Pieper announced her intention to subdivide her property. It was a controversial proposal, bitterly opposed by most residents of Waseosa, and originally, the Town of Huntsville. After the Town rejected the proposal, the applicant appealed to the OMB and a long legal battle ensued.

While the LWRA and the Town originally agreed to cooperatively defend the appeal, the Town concluded a secret deal at a closed door session, agreeing not to oppose the appeal without informing us. The LWRA proceeded on our own and surprised the Town by winning at the OMB.
