I would be happy to once again support your statement on the preservation and development of Huntsville lakes. I hope that you have been pleased with my work on Planning Committee and Council these past four years.
The natural beauty of this place is fragile and needs our protection from overdevelopment, climate change, and abusive practices.

We need to protect that ribbon of life by maintaining 85% of the shoreline in a natural state. If we hope to keep this for future generations we need to be proactive with the enforcement of existing laws and planning practices by demanding remediation from property owners who harm our environment. Sadly we don’t have a checking mechanism in our Planning Department to ensure property owners who are caught harming our lakes actually fix the damage they caused. This must change.

The environment needs to be a part of every discussion we have and weighed in every decision we make.
